Advocating for Our Kids

I have the privilege of serving as your state rep for ACSI. Last week ACSI school leaders from across the nation made a visit to Washington, DC. Our visit focused on political policy and advocacy. Indiana ACSI school leaders from Evansville Christian (Mike Allen, Andy Hanson, Gretchen Muchnick) and Lakeland Christian Academy (Joe Elrod) joined me for this
three-day Conference. The Conference was launched with a compelling message from Dr. Michael Lindsay, president of Taylor University. Other notable speakers were Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Senator James Lankford (R-Oklahoma), Rep.Vicky Hartzler (R-Missouri), Honorable Patricia Puertas Rucker (State Senator from West Virginia), Honorable Winsome
Earl-Sears (Lieutenant Governor of Virginia), along with other ACSI legal and legislative staff.

The Conference was structured to equip the approximately 90 participants to go and speak to their Senators and Representatives about issues related to religious liberty and parental choice in education. Our Indiana team met with Senators Braun and Young in what they call a Hoosier Huddle. We were able to speak directly to them for about ten minutes each. Our team leaders also met with a House Representative from the Evansville district and the two districts surrounding Traders Point Christian School under the leadership of Congresswoman Spartz and Congressman Baird.

The meetings afforded our team the opportunity to encourage our Indiana senators and representatives to vote in favor of protecting religious liberty and funding supporting parental choice in education. Parents, if you would like to be part of an advocacy team here in Indiana, we need your help. I am looking for two or three parents to be part of a team that
helps spread the word about state legislative issues. If called upon, you would reach out to people close to you in our school community and ask them to contact our state legislatures on specific topics that need our voice. Will you join me in this effort to advocate for our kids at TPCS and in Indiana?
